Osteopathic Manual Therapy

Specialists: Maria Gerlich, MA, PT  |  Jim Harwood, PT

Often, pain and disability occur when the stresses and strains incurred by the body exceed our capacity for healing. Osteopathic manual therapy techniques were developed to remove the blockages that are limiting the natural self-healing process and involve gentle, individualized treatments to restore normal function.  Rather than concentrate only on the problem or painful area we use manual techniques to balance all of your related body systems, to provide the best opportunity for healing to occur.

Treatments used include myofascial release, muscle-energy technique, strain-counterstrain, positional release, soft tissue massage and cranial osteopathy (craniosacral therapy).

With our patient centered approach to health and well-being, we consider the symptoms in the context of the your full medical history as well as your lifestyle and personal goals.  This holistic approach ensures that all treatment is tailored to the individual patient.  We work in partnership with you toward the common goal of achieving optimal health.
